It was originally begun in 1995 by a gentleman named Rasmus Lerdorf.  The acronym PHP initially stood for Personal Home Page but now is: PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor.  As you may have guessed, PHP hosting is the ability of anyone to use this free software as a way to build some of the most innovative web sites on the Internet.  It is a computer programming language that does not rely on you knowing an awful lot of coding to get it to provide you with a very dynamic set of web pages when used in conjunction with a good hosting company, whether through a cpanel platform or not.

It has been updated several times since the development began a year before it came out.  The current version was going to be called PHP 6.  It has several different security measures installed to keep your information safe and secure and will operate on 32 or 64 bit encryption systems.  PHP can be used on any hosting platform that specifically states that they can run PHP scripts.  Not all do.

Joomla offers features and benefits that no other content management system offers.
